The monster is a human-dinosaur Hybrid
The October developer Q&A identifies the revised concept as a Dilophosaurus-human hybrid. That description answers which dinosaur the creature is based on. It does not present the monster as a reconstruction of a real animal.
The distinction is important in a game that also includes a dinosaur attraction and fossil imagery. A fictional hostile creature can draw on a species without sharing a museum skeleton’s purpose. Use the Hybrid identification when discussing the monster rather than treating every Dilophosaurus reference as the same asset.
How the earlier concept changed
The team says an earlier direction combined human and raptor elements. The concept later moved toward Dilophosaurus. This is development history explaining the design’s evolution, not an account of an in-story transformation.
A concept change also does not establish two separate enemies. The earlier idea belongs to the process of making the creature. It should not be added to an enemy roster as another confirmed monster that players encounter.
Body horror and creature development
The Creature Design devlog discusses the Hybrid alongside the Bronto and Allo designs. It identifies unsettling real-world texture references and body-horror influences in the Hybrid’s development. RJ Palmer was involved in the principal creature work described by the studio.
These references help explain the intended visual unease. They are evidence about artistic construction rather than a bestiary of combat values. A texture source or horror influence cannot establish the creature’s health, attack timing or narrative origin.
Use design information for identification
The supported identification is the Dilophosaurus-human Hybrid. Its earlier concept and body-horror references explain where its design came from in production. They do not establish venom, a neck frill or a particular transformation in the story.
For a wider overview, the all-enemies page separates principal creatures from mascots and exhibits. For the setting around them, the story page introduces Dalton’s Dinos. Neither a scientific species profile nor the name of a museum asset should substitute for evidence about an encounter.
