A road trip interrupted in New Mexico
The narrative devlog identifies Jordan as travelling from Chicago to Los Angeles. The game begins on September 19, 1992. A breakdown near the dinosaur attraction interrupts that journey and places Jordan at the center of its mystery.
The publisher describes Dalton’s Dinos as an old Route 66 attraction. That roadside setting gives the stranded journey a specific place rather than a generic haunted building. The opening problem is practical as well as frightening: the trip cannot simply continue as planned.
Missing staff and a call for help
The attraction’s staff have vanished. A voice on a telephone asks for help finding a missing child. This request gives the exploration an immediate purpose while leaving the wider situation unsettled.
The phone call is part of the official premise, not a fan explanation of every event. It establishes the request that draws Jordan into the attraction. It does not by itself identify a final villain or reveal what happened to each missing person.
Stella’s role in the story
The narrative devlog describes Stella as an off-site colleague who reaches Jordan. She is connected to Dalton and Elena’s paleontology work. Her role as a guide adds a named relationship to the broader telephone-and-exploration premise.
That role can be stated without inventing dialogue or later outcomes. The source gives a connection to the attraction’s work and to Jordan’s journey. It does not justify assigning Stella a secret identity or a final fate based on a community theory.
Dalton, Elena and Dalton Jr.
The September developer press release identifies Dalton, Elena and Dalton Jr. as part of the mystery. These names belong to the official promotional story material. They can be introduced without expanding them into a complete account of the family’s actions.
The collected sources are clearer about the setup than about the final revelations. A named character is not evidence of a particular death, betrayal or transformation. This introduction keeps the names within the context actually supplied by the announcements.

Environmental storytelling adds context
The official game page describes tapes, notes and recordings as ways of uncovering the attraction’s past. Exploration connects the surface setting with hidden depths beneath it. These clues give players a way to learn more while moving through the game.
A story premise and a complete plot summary are different things. The available material establishes Jordan’s situation, the call for help and several official character connections. It does not establish black-goo origins, government involvement or the final outcome of the mystery.
What this introduction covers
The useful spoiler-light starting point is a stranded traveler drawn into the search for a missing child. Stella’s guidance and the attraction’s paleontology connections give that premise more shape. The recording system provides further context through exploration.
For the separate question of how many endings are announced, use the game-ending page. For recording types and the security-office playback reference, use the tape page. Neither topic requires treating a fan lore video’s interpretation as a developer-confirmed plot.
